Best for
Venture-backed companies where the interface has to be good enough to win a market.
Founders talk about this studio the way engineers talk about Stripe's docs. Metalab designed Slack's original interface before Slack was Slack, and has since shipped for Coinbase, Robinhood, Loom and Midjourney, many of them while those companies were still small. Roughly 475 products shipped, and the team claims 24 of its clients became unicorns. The interesting move for founders is Metalab Ventures, a fund of about $15 million launched in 2024 that invests at pre-seed through Series A, which means on some engagements the studio has a reason to care what happens after launch.
